David John Courtney (17 February 1959 – 22 October 2023) was an English self-proclaimed gangster who became both an author and an actor. Born in Bermondsey, London, he attended Adamsrill Primary School in Sydenham, South East London. Despite his claims of connections to gangsters like Reggie Kray and Lenny McLean, he was only nine when Kray was imprisoned. Allegedly involved in various criminal activities, he spent time in high-security Belmarsh Prison, as detailed by ex-prison guard Jim Dawkins in "The Loose Screw." Courtney's assertions of being shot, stabbed, and facing murder attempts have been met with skepticism, with many remaining unverified.
